We are thrilled to welcome the 4th Graders of Port Angeles Elementary Schools to join us for an exclusive performance of
Port Angeles City Ballet’s “The Nutcracker”
on Thursday, December 4th at Field Arts & Events Hall
2025 marks the first year of this exciting new tradition.
Get ready for a magical field trip! This special performance features guest artists from Los Angeles Ballet and Miami City Ballet, performing with dozens of talented local dancers, including students from every Port Angeles elementary school!
Students will be swept into the story as Marie and Frank journey through a sparkling world of snowflakes, toy soldiers, and dancing sweets. With colorful original costumes, beautiful custom sets, and Tchaikovsky’s famous musical score, this performance brings the holiday season to life on stage.
We can’t wait to share this beloved tradition with you, filled with Pacific Northwest flair and hometown pride.
About the Juan de Fuca Foundation for the arts
Since 1993, JFFA has been sharing the magic of the performing arts with this community. Each May, we produce the Juan de Fuca Fetival, three days of music, dance, theater, and community. If your student has been involved in the school district in past years, you probably know us as the producers of Kids Fest, student geared performances that we use to kick off our festival. We spend the rest of the year, bringing you world class talent from across the globe, focusing on youth outreach and education, and producing fun community performances at Concerts on the Pier & The Dungeness Crab Festival.

JFFA & Port Angeles City Ballet believe that every child deserves to experience the performing arts so we’re donating our time, talent and dollars to make this event possible. This event is also generously supported by our Members and other caring community organizations.
How can I support this event?

Can I join my student on this field trip?
All chaperones are arranged through your student’s school. If you would like to chaperone and have current volunteer paperwork completed with the school district, you can reach out to your student’s teacher for more information.
I'd like my family to attend? Is that an option?
This exclusive event is just for our 4th grade friends. If you would like to see the show with your family, you can purchase tickets here: Nutcracker Tickets. Youth 18 & Under are just $10 each. Don’t wait! This show sells out all performances every year.
What time is the performance? What about the bus?
We are finalizing our performance time as we get confirmation from our bus coordinator. Students will come to school and spend a short time in class. Busses will return to schools after their normal routes and transport students to Field Arts & Events Hall.
We’ll take our seats, talk a little bit about theater ettiquette (bathrooms, talking, etc) and then watch Act I. We’ll have lunch during intermission (school lunch will be provided) and then watch Act II.
At the conclusion of the performance, students will be dismissed by class and return the their school before the end of the normal school day.
How do I sign my student up for this?
Permission slips are being sent home the week of November 3rd. Please fill the form out and return it to your child’s teacher as soon as possible.
The colorful invitation has some information and is meant a keepsake for your student.
Students MUST have a signed and completed permission slip to attend.
